10 Canadian Small Business Suppliers for Bagmakers and Sewists

10 Canadian Small Business Suppliers for Bagmakers and Sewists

When I started my bag making journey back in covid times I remember the struggle to find good quality sewing fabric/hardware/shipping supplies that I could actually order in Canada or wouldn’t cost a fortune to ship to me. It’s taken a while to find these sites, mainly through taking note of other maker’s social media posts to see where they are purchasing from or seeing advertisements for various businesses and ordering from different sites. I look forward to others adding to this list and helping all of us Canadian Makers out! (This list is not sponsored)

  1. Zipper Valley (www.zippervalley.com) I Like them for their #5 zippers by the yard and really good quality zipper pulls. They also have a large selection of faux leathers that are really nice to sew with, as well as jelly vinyl and a lot of options for water-resistant/waterproof lining fabrics which can be hard to find.
  2. Emmaline Bags (www.emmalinebags.com) They carry pretty #3 and #4.5 zippers by the yard and nice zipper pulls. They also have a good selection of rifle paper co fabric, and a lot of heavy duty canvas/other type fabrics.
  3. Impack Shipping (www.impack.co) After a bad experience with super stinky amazon poly mailers, I decided to look at better quality options, and these have been really nice. They have a good selection of colour/pattern options in all sizes, they are all biodegradable, and you can buy smaller quantities (min. 25) They also have an outlet section where you can get some good deals and free Canadian shipping woohoo!
  4. Thread Count Fabrics (www.threadcountfabrics.ca)

Lovely Selection of fabrics of all types. Nice variety of Cottons and Canvas as well.

  5. Fabric Spark (www.fabricspark.com) A super cute store in Toronto with lots of interesting quilting cottons.
  6. Grain Deep Labels (www.graindeep.com) A small business based in Ontario that does laser engraved faux leather and faux suede labels. Many options on her site.
  7. Mini Mailers (www.minimailers.ca) These are great if you want to try shipping your items as oversized letter mail with canada post. These boxes will fit in a mail slot. You can order a sample pack for just under $8.
  8. Dang Designs (www.dangdesigns.ca) They make really cute acrylic signs, perfect if you're looking for a social media or checkout sign for your market table.
  9. Creative Bag Packaging (www.creativebag.com) They have a large store in Toronto and online with lots of small quantity packaging available.
  10. Labelicious (www.shoplabelicious.com) If you're looking more for pretty white satin labels they have a variety of options and look really nice
